Celebrating Consecutive Blog Article #300

300 Weekly Blog Articles
...

without a miss!

The FIRST Freedom Focused SAL blog article was published on October 8, 2013—over a dozen years ago.

Publishing was robust and regular at given intervals along the way, but overall it proved intermittent and sporadic over the first seven (7) years. That all changed on August 31, 2020, when I determined it was time to make the blog more CONSISTENT and predictable moving forward.

From that day onward until TODAY, I have not missed a week—for 300 consecutive weeks—a practice that has helped to further define Freedom Focused as an organization by clarifying its features and sharpening its focus as we march onward confidently and courageously into the future.

Beginning in late 2008, I began taking interest in—and rooting for—Roger Federer, one of professional tennis's all-time great champions and sportsmen.

It was an ironic point in time to begin cheering for Federer, because many of his greatest achievements were already behind him. Nevertheless, the "Swiss Maestro" still had many highlights to come and trophies to raise in his storied tennis career, which would last for another decade-and-a-half until his retirement in 2022.

Roger Federer has many gaudy statistics and achievements to his name, including 103 professional tour-level tournament victories and 20 Grand Slam titles. Among these and other remarkable achievements as a professional tennis player stands a record that rises far-and-away above everyone else, including the other two members of the "BIG 3"—Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal—his greatest opponents who are widely considered to be, along with Federer, the best men's players in tennis history.

Indeed, it is a record that may never be broken in the future.

Federer was a grass court specialist, but
he had to be elite on hard courts and
clay courts to achieve his untouchable
feat of 237 consecutive weeks as world #1.
The record I speak of is the number of CONSECUTIVE weeks ranked #1 in the world. Federer holds this record at 237 consecutive weeks. He set this record between February 2, 2004 and August 17, 2008. This means that for four (4) years and six-and-a-half months, Roger Federer was ranked #1 in the world and no one was able to dethrone him.

Second place to Federer in this nonpareil record is Jimmy Connors at only 160 weeks—not even close!

I have always been inspired by this unique record of both consistency and dominance—and have striven diligently to emulate this same kind of elite performance in my own life and career.

Unlike the mighty Roger Federer, I have no world championships to my name. However, it feels good—and is good for my self-worth—to practice and then achieve milestones of consistency in my life and work.

In all, Roger Federer spent 310 weeks as the number ONE (#1) tennis player in the world, good for second place all-time to Novak Djokovic's otherworldy 428 weeks. However, despite Novak's overall dominance as world #1, Djokovic's best streak of consistency atop the world standings was only 122—not even close to Federer's extraordinary 237.

So while Novak Djokovic rightly deserves the title of professional tennis "GOAT" (Greatest of All Time) for his overall achievements, which include 24 Grand Slam titles and 428 weeks as world #1, there is at least ONE area of measurable excellence where Roger Federer clearly surpassed him—and all other tennis players throughout history—and by a large margin.

As a forever Federer fan, I take great pride in this unsurpassed achievement of his!

No matter what activities or endeavors I have attempted and pursued throughout my life and career, I—like Roger Federer—have learned through experience the incredible importance and value of a simple consistency.

Truly, CONSISTENCY is KEY to my mastery and success as a writer, speaker, organizer, and leader—just like consistency was key to Roger Federer's mastery and success on the tennis court.

SAL Mantra

CONSISTENCY is KEY

This simple mantra is true of virtually everything in life for YOU and everyone else, including:

Academics and learning,

Artistic, athletic, musical, and other performances,

        Financial interest and prosperity,

            Habit formation and breaking,

Health, wellness, fitness, weight loss, and maintenance,

Relationship building, cultivation, nurturance, and troubleshooting, and

Skill development of all kinds.

Jim Rohn—that famous business philosopher of the 20th century—once noted the following about SUCCESS and failure...

"Success is a few simple disciplines practiced every day."

Jim Rohn

"Failure is a few simple disciplines neglected every day."

Once you have developed a habit, consistency gets easier. The hard part is usually developing a good habit—or breaking a bad habit—in the first place.

That's HARD WORK and can be temporarily discouraging!

Habit formation (or breaking) really can be difficult. It takes a lot of up-front effort, energy, focus, will power, and accountability. But, if you are willing to push through these challenges, you will be rewarded with good, strong, and helpful habits that will bring you proficiency and success in whatever you set out to do.

It feels really good to have exercised the discipline to have achieved the consistency of 300 consecutive weekly published articles on the SAL blog. At Freedom Focus this is definitely an achievement worth celebrating!

What is something in YOUR life or career that you would like to accomplish or achieve?

What "simple (or not so simple) disciplines" will YOU need to "practice every day" and what new habits will you need to develop in order to realize your vision, accomplish your mission, or achieve your goal?

We encourage you to begin doing whatever it takes to develop this habit, beginning TODAY!

To help inspire you in your efforts, consider the words of a famous poem entitled, HABIT...

HABIT

I am your constant companion.
I am your greatest helper or your heaviest burden.

I will push you onward or drag you down to failure.
I am completely at your command.

Half the things you do might well be turned over to me,
And I will do them quickly and correctly.

I am easily managed; you must merely be firm with me.
Show me exactly how you want something done,
And after a few lessons I will do it automatically.

I am the servant of all great people,
And alas, of all failures as well.

Those who are great, I have made great.
Those who are failures, I have made failures.

I am not a machine, although I work with all the precision of a machine,
Plus the intelligence of a person.

You may run me for profit or run me for ruin,
It makes no difference to me.

Take me, train me, and be firm with me
And I will place the world at your feet.

Be easy with me and I will destroy you.

Who am I?

I am HABIT!

Novak Djokovic: The GOAT of Men's Tennis

Novak Djokovic is now a three-time champion
on the clay courts at Roland Garros in Paris.
I was hoping I would never have to write this article.

But I have also known for some time that it was likely just a matter of time before I would have no choice.

That time has come...

Last weekend, in Paris, France, Novak Djokovic of Serbia won the French Open for the third time. In so doing, he became the first man to ever win 23 Grand Slam tournament titles, breaking a tie with Rafael Nadal at 22. Djokovic also became the first man to ever win all four Grand Slam tournaments at least three (3) times.

It is a truly stunning and unprecedented achievement—not only in the world of men's tennis, but in the world of SPORTS generally speaking.

With this tournament result officially in the history books, the time has come for Freedom Focused to grant "The Djoker" the undisputed title of the Greatest of All Time (The GOAT). It pains me a little to relinquish this title to Djokovic, which Freedom Focused had previously awarded to Rafael Nadal.

Click HERE to read The Undisputed GOAT in Men's Tennis published on June 8, 2022 after last year's French Open, which Nadal won (his 22nd Grand Slam title), moving him ahead of Federer and Djokovic, both of which had 20 Grand Slam titles (at the time).

If you read our previous article, which granted GOAT status to Rafa, you will know that that was also a bit painful because I am and always will be a Roger Federer fan first and a Rafael Nadal fan second. This bias, however, makes our decision to grant GOAT status to Djokovic all the more authentic and credible because it's not something we are subjectively inclined to do. Indeed, for us, Roger Federer will always be the greatest tennis player of all time because we like him best. And we are not alone in boosting his popularity. Many (if not most) tennis fans would certainly call Roger the most beautiful, graceful, friendly, and likeable player of all time.

Objectively speaking, however, the STATS tell a clear story at this point in time and that storyline is relatively unambiguous: Novak Djokovic is the greatest men's tennis player of all time—PERIOD—and with Roger retired and injury-prone Rafa nearing retirement, it is more-or-less a foregone conclusion that Djokovic will continue to hold onto GOAT status for not only years (and perhaps decades) to come, but very possibly forever on this planet.

Here are the indisputable FACTS registered on the actual TENNIS COURT:

Grand Slam Tournament TitlesDjokovic (23), Nadal (22), Federer (20)

Big Tournament TitlesDjokovic (67), Nadal (59), Federer (54)

Weeks Holding the World #1 RankingDjokovic (378), Federer (310), Nadal (209)

Perhaps even more tellingly than these compelling stats, Djokovic also has a winning head-to-head record against both Nadal (30-29) and Federer (27-23), the two biggest rivals throughout his storied career.

In other words, Djokovic not only has all of the most significant records in men's tennis, but he achieved those records while rising in the shadows of the two other greatest players of all time (Federer and Nadal). Had anyone else in tennis history matched Djokovic's numbers, they would most likely be proclaimed the GOAT; but the fact that he accomplished these remarkable feats while having to compete with the top to other GOAT candidates simply seals the deal—PERIOD.

Congratulations, Novak. While we wish we would have been able to write this same article about our man, Roger, you have simply beaten him (and Rafa) and we are mesmerized by the scope and extent of your achievements on the tennis court, which are demi-god like. You deserve to be called "The GOAT" and we find it unlikely that anyone will ever surpass the numbers you have (and continue to) compile.

Novak: YOU are a TRUE CHAMPION. Thank you for demonstrating to us—and the rest of the world—what is possible through great desire and focused Self-Action Leadership exercised consistently over the space of three decades.

Yours in Tennis, Sports, and Human Performance in general—

The Undisputed GOAT in Men's Tennis

Phllipe Chartrier Court at The French Open,
also known as Roland-Garros, is the only tennis
Grand Slam event held on a red clay surface.
Special French Open (Tennis) Edition

Last September, on the eve of the U.S. Open tennis final in Flushing Meadows, Queens, New York, I composed a rough draft of a blog where I was preparing to declare Serbia's Novak Djokovic the G.O.A.T. (Greatest of all Time) in men's professional tennis. At that time, Djokovic was tied with Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal with 20 Grand Slam Titles to his name.

Click HERE to read BLOG #229: An Unprecedented Era of Athletic Greatness  Published Sept. 13, 2021.

I ended up having to edit my draft when "The Djoker" surprised me and the rest of the tennis world by losing the final to Daniil Medvedev of Russia, leaving him tied with Fed and Rafa at 20-20-20 apiece for Grand Slam titles.

Earlier this year, Rafael Nadal finally broke the three-way tie when he lifted the Norman Brooks Championship trophy for the second time in his career after winning the Australian Open in Melbourne, Victoria, in January.

Then, this past Sunday, Rafa won an absolutely ridiculous 14th French Open title to widen the gap on his rivals by a Grand Slam score of 22-20-20.

Wimbledon, a Grand Slam tournament played at SW19
in London, England, sports a grass surface.
To put in perspective how remarkable Nadal's recent achievement in Paris is, consider the fact that as recently as 2009, American great Pete Sampras held the total Grand Slam titles record at 14. Rafael Nadal now has 14 titles at the French Open alone. His other eight titles were claimed, of course, from the Australian Open (2), Wimbledon (2), and the U.S. Open (4).

Rafa has now broken the all-time record for Grand Slam titles for the second time in less than six months—and boasts two more than either of his greatest rivals. Add to that his winning record against Roger Federer (24 wins to 16 losses), his virtual career draw against Djokovic (29 wins to 30 losses), and the fact that all along the way he has had to battle through more injuries than both Roger and Novak, I really don't see how an objective observer doesn't give the nod, however slight, to Rafa over his unparalleled rivals, Federer and Djokovic—their own extraordinary greatness notwithstanding.

The Australian Open and the U.S. Open
Grand Slam events are held on hard courts.
Now... if I were a Rafa fan, it would be more difficult to stake this claim with authenticity and objectivity.

But I am not a Rafa fan.

Don't get me wrong... my admiration for Rafa's determination, grit, relentlessness, and class knows no bounds. But at the end of the day, I am—and always will be—a Roger Federer fan.

As such, and while it pains me slightly to have to give the nod to my guy's greatest rival, I really don't see any way out of it—objectively speaking. Thus, FREEDOM FOCUSED is making the declaration definitive and explicit...

RAFAEL NADAL of Spain is the GREATEST TENNIS PLAYER OF ALL TIME

In making this claim, I recognize my use of the term "Undisputed"—as I did in the title of this article—will not go unchallenged. Others will surely counter my logic for staking this claim—and that's okay. Nay; that is more than okay—that is half the joy of the discussion and of the sport in general.

But for me and my company (since my company presently consists of just one [me]), the conversation is over—at least until someone else matches and then exceeds Rafa's Grand Slam total of 22 victories.

What is the probability of that happening?

The Tennis world may never again see three players the likes of
Rafa, Roger, and Novak all competing in the same generation.
The chances of a nearly 41-year old Roger Federer catching and overtaking Rafa in the twilight of his career are slim-to-none. And considering the fact that every other serious competitor in the world at this point in time is a full 21 Grand Slams behind Rafa (Djokovic excepted), it is highly unlikely that any current tennis professional not named Novak will ever catch him either.

Records, of course, are made to be broken, and you never know who may grace men's professional tennis in the future.

However, one of the unique aspects making Nadal's singular achievement so extraordinary is the fact that he had two virtually equal competitors (Roger and Novak) playing in the same era as him. This blessing (or cursing?) of timing, unquestionably elevated (or inhibited?) Rafa's unprecedented career trajectory. In other words, for another player to pass him in the future, that player would probably need not only a once-in-a-generation talent himself, but a competitor (or two) who are likewise once-in-a-generation talents—like Fed and Djoker—to push him upward towards the kind of rarified air that only the Big THREE (Rafa, Roger, and Novak) have breathed in the history of men's professional tennis.

Novak Djokovic, on the other hand, is younger than Roger and Rafa, making his ascent toward and/or past Nadal still possible. If that happens in the future; if Djokovic manages to win 23 Grand Slams, I'll pass the torch to him. But until then, Rafa is professional tennis's new GOAT.

CONGRATULATIONS  RAFA!

I love tennis not because I am personally good at it.
I love tennis because of its beauty when played well—
and because of what I learn about REAL LIFE
from those who play it best.
Perhaps you may be wondering: "Why is Dr. JJ so enamored by tennis? He has never even played competitively himself."

Good Question!

It is true... I can probably count on two hands how many times I've actually played tennis in my entire life. And when I do play, I am no good at it. In fact, before I met my wife, Lina, I once went on a tennis date with a young lady and she beat me soundly! I have also lost matches to brothers and nephews. I openly confess I lack the quickness, coordination, and reflex speeds to obtain any notable success on the tennis court.

But that's okay. I have enough experience succeeding in other sports and life activities to be able to deeply appreciate and respect those who have elite abilities in any undertaking, athletic or otherwise—and perhaps especially in those endeavors where my personal proclivities and talents are wanting.

As such, I hold a deep and abiding respect—almost a reverence—for athletes like Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer, and Novak Djokovic. While there is no mistaking their obvious talent for their craft, I have come to learn that true champions of anything always invest far more than mere talent in whatever they undertake. And there are few things more beautiful in life than beholding the performance of an individual or group where stellar talent meets epic desire, study, vision, and hard work.

After all, it is just those kinds of attributes and character traits that we are all about here at FREEDOM FOCUSED.

Dr. JJ's Rule #9: Triumph & Disaster

In a previous article, Dr. JJ's 13 Rules for Living were shared.

Click HERE to access JJ's 13 Rules.

This week's blog post addresses Dr. JJ's RULE #9, which states:

Develop reasoned responses to life's two great impostersTriumph & Disaster.*

At the famed address of SW19 in London, England, in the inner sanctum of the most famous tennis venue in the world (Wimbledon), is a quote from the famous British author and poet, Rudyard Kipling. The quote comes from Kipling's famous poem, If, and reads: "If you can meet with triumph and disaster and treat those two imposters just the same."

"IF  YOU  CAN  MEET  WITH  TRIUMPH  AND  DISASTER,  AND  TREAT  THOSE  TWO  IMPOSTERS  JUST  THE  SAME"

Click HERE to see a picture of this quote INSIDE the Wimbledon Stadium.

Click HERE to see a picture of this quote OUTSIDE the Wimbledon Stadium.

This quote is a reminder that even the greatest champions (à la Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, and Novak Djokovic) face their share of failures in life, and that the extent of their happiness and success in the long run is, to a large extent, determined not so much by how much they win or lose, but by how they respond to both winning and losing.

Kipling's caveat is a caution against extremes. It's great to win and self-action leaders should enjoy the natural, positive feelings that accompany winning. Likewise, losing is unpleasant, and self-action leaders should afford those natural feelings of disappointment and sadness their due. But beyond that, a self-action leader's primary aim should be a consistent exercise of balance, grace, humility, sportsmanship, and class—WIN or lose.

Great performers are continually improving
and polishing their performances.
Kipling's caveat is also a reminder that both winning and losing are typically temporary states of being. This is another reason we should not allow ourselves to be unduly impacted by the result of a given game, competition, or other life endeavor. It also explains why great champions often live by the following mantra: "You are only as great as your next performance."

"YOU are only as great as your NEXT performance."

Mantra of Champions

It can be tempting at times to base too much of your inner security and emotional balance on a given outcome in your life or career. I remember as a junior in high school thinking: "If I can just win the State cross-country meet, I will have arrived and my life will be set." As rewarding and satisfying as that particular victory was for me as a teenager, the reality of course is that life goes on after the grandest of victories. Indeed, it doesn't take more than a few days for the initial sheen of a great victory to begin to wear off. And the more time that passes, the more obscure a given victory becomes in the forefront of one's life and mind. And that is as it should be. Self-action leaders strive consciously and diligently to avoid the "Uncle Rico Syndrome"** of living in the past.

Marrying Lina was an AMAZING dream come true;
But it was much more a beginning than ending to my life's journey.
I experienced something similar when it came to pursuing romance in my life. If I can just get Lina to be my bride, we can ride off into the sunset and live happily ever after. I'll be set!

As cool as it was to actually win Lina's heart and get her to marry me—and as cool as it still is to be married to Lina each and every day—the reality is that life goes on day-after-day and continues to provide me with continual obligations and stresses that must be met and managed. In other words, even at life's very best, the purpose of our existence is not to live out an uninterrupted string of unending bliss. Nor is our objective to always win and never lose.

What then, is our purpose?

As a self-action leader, your primary purpose is personal and professional learning, experience, and GROWTH. And the formula for growth involves continually learning right from wrong and then striving to the best of your ability to do what is right. As I consistently do what is right over long periods of time, I find that I obtain happiness, joy, and peace, all of which come as a by-product of living a good life, serving others, and contributing to the greater good as much as I can.

So the next time you win at something, try to remain modest by keeping your victory in perspective. And the next time you lose at something, try to maintain perspective by not letting your loss tarnish your self-esteem or inner security, or unduly impact your mental, emotional, or spiritual homeostasis.

We sometimes mistaken fool's gold, or even real
gold, as being more important than the truly
GOLDEN things that matter most in life.
Remember also that some victories matter a LOT more than others. For example, as important and valuable as I once believed my State cross-country title was, it does not even compare to the actual importance and infinite value of my victory in love and marriage to my best friend Lina. Similarly, the worth of my All-American citation in college track and field pales in comparison to the value of my college degrees.

It is also worth noting that you usually learn more when you lose than when you win. Learning from losing doesn't take away the pain, but it can add meaning—and therefore value—to a loss. Moreover such lessons are essential along the pathway to eventual victory.

I have always been inspired by Kipling's memorable poem, If. I close today's article by reprinting this timeless piece of Self-Action Leadership literary GOLD, which can also be found in the SAL Textbook, Volume II.

Rudyard Kipling
(1865-1936)
1907 Noble Prize Winner (Literature)
If

By: Rudyard Kipling
(1865-1936)

If you can keep your head when all about you
   Are losing theirs and blaming it on you;
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too:
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or, being lied about, don't deal in lies,
Or being hated don't give way to hating,
   And yet don't look too good nor talk too wise;

If you can dream—and not make dreams your master;
If you can think—and not make thoughts your aim,
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same:
If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
   And stoop and build 'em up with worn-out tools;

If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it all on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings,
And never breathe a word about your loss:
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: "Hold on!"

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with Kings—nor lose the common touch,
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,
If all men count with you, but none too much:
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds' worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And—which is more—you'll be a Man, my son!

An Era of Unprecedented Athletic Greatness

Special U.S. Open (tennis) Edition

Last week, I prepared a special blog article in anticipation of Novak Djokovic becoming the first tennis player (man or woman) to win the Calendar Grand Slam in tennis since Australia's Rod Laver in 1969. For this unique and extraordinary achievement, in concert with surpassing Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal with 21 Major titles, I was prepared to pronounce Djokovic as the undisputed GOAT (greatest of all time) of men's tennis.

Then, "The Djoker" did something that surprised me—and that few experts or pundits anticipated.

He LOST.

The Good News is that I no longer feel compelled to pronounce Djokovic the undisputed GOAT of men's tennis. This is good news because I have long been a Roger Federer fan whose heart has been broken on many occasions by Djokovic's brilliance, determination, and resilience over the years. Such heartbreak occurred most notably (and recently) in the 2019 Wimbledon Final, where Novak pulled a rabbit out of his hat against Roger and somehow found a way to stave off multiple championship points in the fifth set to win the longest Wimbledon final in history—and the second longest final in Grand Slam history. The bad news, at least for Djokovic, is I had to edit my original article to withhold the ultimate piece of praise (confirming GOAT status).

At only 34 years of age, it is quite possible—and perhaps even likely—that Djokovic may yet merit this praise from my pen before he retires. But after losing yesterday's U.S. Open final to Russian up-and-comer, Daniil Medvedev, I cannot in good conscience take that leap just yet.

Thus, for now, the BIG 3Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, and Novak Djokovic—remain tied at 20 Grand Slam single titles apiece, and at least for me, as a tied trio of GOATS. And while compelling empirical evidence is mounting to suggest that both Nadal and Djokovic may have already surpassed Federer, the fact remains that the elder Federer, in a sense, created both of his younger rivals by his own unprecedented successes prior to their rise on tennis's biggest stage. In other words, had Nadal and Djokovic not had Federer's greatness to chase all these years, they likely would not have risen to their own lofty status. Indeed, the three have very much fueled each other's unparalleled success in the sport.

Nothing in all of men's tennis history can even compare to the greatness of The BIG 3. Take all the greatest men's stars of the past 60 years—Laver, Connors, Borg, McEnroe, Lendl, Aggassi, and Sampras, and none of them are even in the dust of the BIG 3, at least in terms of Grand Slam titles won.

But in a larger sense, the BIG 3 of men's tennis is emblematic of a host of athletes, teams, coaches, and performances from the past four decades that have accomplished unprecedented things in collegiate and professional athletics. As such, I think it is worth taking a moment or two to pause and reflect on the cornucopia of excellence that the WORLD of SPORT has gifted us over the course of my lifetime (42 years).

I recognize that much greatness was demonstrated before I was even born. Like Jim Thorpe at Carlisle and the 1912 Olympics in Stockholm. And the New York Yankees of the late 1930s and early 1950s. Definitely there was the Boston Celtics of the 1960s and Bear Bryant's Alabama Crimson Tide of the 60s and 70s. And most dramatically, we cannot forget the UCLA Bruins from 1964 to 1975. And there were certainly individual outliers like Paavo Nurmi, Muhammad Ali, Mark Spitz, and Nadia Comaneci.

So I get it, and it's not like we haven't been down this road before.

Nevertheless, it remains clear that in 2021, the road is wider, longer, has been freshly paved, and continues to ascend into mountain heights and summits hitherto untouched by those who went before.

In past blog articles, I have discussed my disappointment in the mediocrity we sometimes see around us in the United States and beyond. Moreover, I have articulated how determined I am personally, and how driven we at Freedom Focused are as an organization, to influence positive and productive changes to this culture of apathy and underachievement.

And all that is true, speaking collectively and not individually.

However, speaking individually and not collectively, the exact opposite is true. Indeed, if you do a little "cherry picking," it is not difficult to find examples of unprecedented commitment, dedication, excellence, and achievement coming from all corners of the globe—and it is inspiring! The most salient examples of these "exceptions to the rule" are perhaps most visible in the WORLD of SPORT.

To illustrate this phenomenon, consider the following:

Without exception, each athlete, coach, and/or team listed above has outlying achievements that have seldom (if ever) been matched. And in some cases—such as the BIG 3 winning 20 Gram Slam tennis titles apiece—such accomplishments may never be matched again. And it has all occurred in the past four decades. Suffice it to say, as a sporting enthusiast, I feel pretty blessed to have come of age during the 1980s and 1990s.

Such accomplishments are a testament to the courage, commitment, and undying tenacity of the human spirit—something that we as self-action leaders can continually learn from so that we might ever move onward and upward in our own personal and professional quests after FREEDOM and EXISTENTIAL GROWTH.
